Day One: Arrival and transfer to your villa

Upon arrival, you will be met outside the baggage claim at Catania Airport. You have a private transfer from the airport to your villa. You will be escorted to your room with an en suite bath upon arrival. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

Day Two: Excursion to Mount Etna with wine tasting and lunch

We explore the slopes of Mt. Etna and include a visit to the Paradiso site, the highest safe point on the southeastern slope of the volcano. Following the visit to this site, we continue to a beautiful private winery for an estate visit, followed by lunch. We return to the villa following the winery visit and lunch.

Day Three: Siracusa

Today’s excursion includes visiting the archaeological site of Siracusa, one of he earliest Greek settlements on the island. We have a private guided tour of the archaeological sites, including the Ear of Dionysus, amphitheater, and Roman temple. Following our visit to the archaeological site, we transfer to the island of Ortygia, where we have lunch and explore this fascinating island.

We return to the villa following our guided visit to Ortygia.

Day Four: Villa del Casale and visit to Caltagirone

We venture into the heart of Sicily today with a visit to Piazza Armerina and the incredible Villa del Casale. The villa was once the hunting lodge of Roman emperors and contains one of the world’s finest collections of era-specific mosaics. Following our guided tour of Casale, we continue to a small village near Caltagirone. Lunch is served in a traditional restaurant in the countryside of Sicily. We visit the ceramic city of Sicily, Caltagirone, before returning to the villa.

Day Five: Sicilian Baroque

Few cities on the island more ably demonstrate the beauty of “Sicilian Baroque” architecture than Noto. Located around the Three Baroque Cities, Scicli and Ragusa being the other two. The city of Noto captures visitors with its stunning architecture, wide main streets, lovely shops, cafes, and trattorias.

We have a guided tour of the city center, followed by time for lunch, explorations, and shopping before returning to the villa for dinner this evening.

Day Six: Taormina

Private guided tour of Taormina. This is one of the most beautiful and famous villages in Sicily. The views over the southeastern slope of Mt. Etna are unforgettable. Open time for lunch, shopping, and exploring this beautiful village following the guided tour.

Day Seven: Agrigento and the Valley of the Temples

Departure from our villa to Agrigento. The Valley of Temples is one of the most prized historic locations in the world, famous for the temples that overlook the harbor of Agrigento. We overnight at a lovely hotel this evening in the city of Agrigento.

Day Eight: The Heart of Sicily

Departure from our hotel in Agrigento and transfer to a beautiful Masseria in the hills of central Sicily. Open afternoon to enjoy the grounds and pool of the Masseria. Overnight at the Masseria.

Day Nine: Palermo

Morning transfer to Palermo. Check into a lovely city-center hotel in Palermo. Afternoon guided city center tour.

Day Ten: Cefalu and evening cooking class

Private guided visit to Cefalu on the island’s northern coast. Return mid-afternoon to Palermo. Evening cooking class for dinner.

Day Eleven: Segesta

Private guided visit to Segesta, with lunch following our visit to Segesta at a small trattoria in Scopello above Golfo di Castellammare.

Return to our Palermo hotel following lunch.

Day Twelve: Monreale

Private guided tour of the Byzantine complex at Monreale, above Palermo. Following our guided visit, we return to Palermo. Farewell group dinner in Palermo.

Day Thirteen: Departure

You have private a private transfer from our city-center hotel to the Palermo Airport for return flights to the United States
